Shelby Smith (August 8, 1927 – November 6, 2020) was an AmericanRepublican politician from the state ofKansas. He attended theUniversity of Kansas and served in theUnited States Navy inWorld War II and theKorean War.[1] He served as a member of theKansas House of Representatives from 1967 to 1975, then as the 39thLieutenant Governor of Kansas from 1975 to 1979.[2][3] In 1988, GovernorMike Hayden named Smith as hissecretary of administration.[2] Smith died on November 6, 2020.[4]
