Sharat Katariya (born 15 June 1978) is an Indian film director and screenwriter.
Katariya started out as an assistant director toRajat Kapoor during the making ofRaghu Romeo. He also worked as a lyricist on the film. Apart from this he has written dialogues for filmsBheja Fry andSunglass.
Sharat has also worked withDeven Khote andKunal Vijaykar on his directorial ventureVishesh Films'Fruit and Nut.[1]
Katariya worked as the first assistant onRok Sako To Rok Lo. Sharat’s filmThat's What My Dad Used to Say was shown at theBerlin International Film Festival. Sharat worked on a short film,Long Distance Call[2] starringRanvir Shorey. In 2006, Sharat penned lyrics forMixed Doubles.[3]
His directorial debut film10 m Love (2010) was based onWilliam Shakespeare's playA Midsummer Night's Dream, with Rajat Kapoor,Tisca Chopra andPurab Kohli as leads.[4] Following this, he went on to directDum Laga Ke Haisha (2015) andSui Dhaaga (2018).[5]
