Sashima (猿島郡,Sashima-gun) is adistrict located inIbaraki Prefecture,Japan.

Following theBandō merger but with 2004 population data, the district has an estimatedpopulation of 125,153 and adensity of 726 persons per km². The total area is 172.25 km².^[1]

• On March 22, 2005, the town ofSashima merged with the neighboring city ofIwai forming the city ofBandō.
