A year after the attack, she and her familyconverted to Judaism andmoved to Israel.[3][4][6] They settled in theWest BankIsraeli settlement ofKiryat Arba, south of Jerusalem, on the outskirts ofHebron, where she now lives.[3][4][5]

She is now a religiousOrthodox Jew, and studies at anulpana in Kiryat Arba.[2][3][5][7][8] Avraham also volunteers as a firefighter, and has taken part in scores of firefighting operations.[4]

Avraham is considering studying medicine,[3][4] or she may eventually become a full-time firewoman.[4]

Thai boxing career

[edit]

While attending a Kiryat Arba school for religious girls, Avraham made the decision to participate in sports.[3] Michael Pollack, afitness trainer from nearby Hebron's Jewish neighborhood, meldedkickboxing into her sports training.[3] Pollack putThai boxing coach Eddie Yusopov and Avraham in contact with each other, and Yusopov became her trainer.[3][5]

Avraham trains in Muay Thai boxing five times a week, at the boxing center at Jerusalem'sTeddy Stadium.[2][4] As is the case with most Israeli athletes, she does not receive any funding. To pay for her training (NIS 230 a month) and trips abroad for competitions, since she does not like to ask for money, she cleans houses and also works as a dog walker and waitress.[5] In addition, Avraham hitchhikes to her practices in Jerusalem, as she does not have money to take the bus.[5] Because she is religious, she bringskosher food with her when she travels to fights.[7]
