Sara Doorsoun-Khajeh (Persian:سارا دورسون خواجه,Turkish:Sara Dursun; born 17 November 1991) is a German professionalfootballer who plays as adefender forFrauen-Bundesliga clubEintracht Frankfurt and theGerman national team.
Doorsoun-Khajeh was born inCologne to anIranian father and aTurkish mother.[2]
In her debut season withVfL Wolfsburg, Doorsoun won the2018–19 Frauen-Bundesliga and theDFB-Pokal.[3] She won theFrauen-Bundesliga andDFB-Pokal again the following season with Wolfsburg.[4] Doorsoun has featured for Wolfsburg during the2019–20 UEFA Women's Champions League knockout phase, including playing in the2020 UEFA Women's Champions League Final againstOlympique Lyonnais.[5]
On 25 April 2023, Doorsoun signed a two year contract with the club.[6] On 7 March 2025, she extended her contract further until 30 June 2026.[7]
Having represented Germany from the under-15 level up, Doorsoun made her debut for thesenior team in 2016 during a 1–0 win overHungary.[3] She has been called up for the2016,2017, and2018 editions of theSheBelieves Cup, as well as theUEFA Women's Euro 2017 where she played in their 2–0 win overRussia and quarter-final match againstDenmark.[8][9] After providing two assists during Germany'sWorld Cup qualification campaign, she was called into their squad for the2019 FIFA Women's World Cup.[10][11]
Doorsoun scored her first goal for the senior national team on 31 August 2019 in aUEFA Women's Euro 2022 qualifying match againstMontenegro.[12] On 18 June 2022, she was named in Germany's finalUEFA Women's Euro 2022 squad.[13] Doorsoun helped Germany reach theUEFA Women's Euro 2022 Final againstEngland with a 2–1 win overFrance in the semi-final on 27 July 2022.[14] On 31 May 2023, Doorsoun was named in Germany's preliminary squad for the2023 FIFA Women's World Cup,[15] and was named in their final 23-player squad on 8 July.[16] In July 2024, Doorsoun was named in Germany's squad for the2024 Summer Olympics.[17]
In 2021 Doorsoun began datingPrincess Charming winner Lou Schaaf. Doorsoun confirmed their split in December 2022.[18]
