Sam Miller (born 28 September 1962) is a Britishtelevision director and former actor fromSaxmundham,England. As an actor, he is known for his role as Sgt. John Maitland in theITV police procedural dramaThe Bill from 1990 to 1993. As a director, he has worked on theBBC television dramasCardiac Arrest,This Life andLuther.[1] He works with London-based production company Mustard Film Company. He is the father of the actor and footballerWilliam Miller, who playedOliver Twist in the 2007 television adaptation.
Miller has received threeEmmy nominations forOutstanding Directing for a Miniseries, Movie or a Dramatic Special, one in 2012 forLuther and two in 2021 forI May Destroy You for the episodes "Eyes Eyes Eyes Eyes" and "Ego Death" (withMichaela Coel).
