Ruy Castro (born 26 February 1948, inCaratinga) is a Brazilian author and journalist. In 1996 he was a co-winner of thePrêmio Jabuti. He is known for his writings concerningBossa nova[1] and for his biographies, profiling figures such asGarrincha,[2]Nelson Rodrigues andCarmen Miranda.[3]
On 6 October 2022 he was elected to occupy the Chair number 13 at theBrazilian Academy of Letters, in succession toSérgio Paulo Rouanet.[4]
