Room on the Broom is a 2012shortstop motioncomputer animatedtelevision film based on thepicture book written byJulia Donaldson and illustrated byAxel Scheffler. The film was nominated for theBest Animated Short Film at the2014 Academy Awards.[1] It also won theBritish Academy Children's Award for Animation in 2013.[2]
Directed byMax Lang andJan Lachauer, the film was produced by Martin Pope and Michael Rose ofMagic Light Pictures, London, in association with Orange Eyes Limited.
It was first broadcast onBBC One on Tuesday 25 December 2012[3] before being released onDVD in March 2013 byMagic Light Pictures. It then aired in theUnited States onPBS Kids Sprout as a Halloween special, on 30 October 2013, and then aired in the United States onPBS Kids as a Christmas special, on 1 December 2017 – 9 December 2018.
