Unincorporated community in Missouri, U.S.

Portland is anunincorporated community in southeasternCallaway County,Missouri, United States.[1] It is part of theJefferson City, MissouriMetropolitan Statistical Area. Portland is located just north of theMissouri River onRoute 94, approximately 24 miles east-northeast ofJefferson City.[2]

History

The village was laid out in 1831.[3] Its location directly on theMissouri River made it a popular shipping point for the farms and plantations of Callaway County. The name Portland stems from that activity.[4]
