Philip orFilip (Swedish:Filip Halstensson) wasKing of Sweden from c. 1105–1110 until 1118.[1]
Philip was a son of KingHalsten Stenkilsson and nephew of KingInge the Elder. Philip and his brotherInge the Younger ruled together from 1105 or 1110 and onwards as successors of their uncle KingInge the Elder. According to the records of theWestrogothic law (Västgötalagen) he was a good king. Little else is known about him. Hardly any other Swedish king who was the undisputed ruler of the kingdom after theChristianization is less known than Philip.[2]
According to theHervarar saga, he ruled only for a short time and was married toIngegard, the daughter of the Norwegian kingHarald Hardrada.[3] Philip was probably buried with his brother Inge inVreta Abbey (Vreta kloster och kyrka) atLinköping inÖstergötland, Sweden.[4]
