Philaea orPhilaia (Ancient Greek:Φιλαία), also calledPalaeae orPalaiai andPalaea orPalaia, was a town on the coast ofancient Cilicia mentioned in theStadiasmus Maris Magni.[1]
Its site is located nearTahta Limanı (onEğribük bay) inAsiatic Turkey.[2][3] Although there are very few ruins, an underwater survey reveals that most of the ruins are submerged in the water.[4] There is also a necropolis. Judging from the grave types it is believed that Philaea was aRoman town.[5]
