ThePeugeot Type 81 was a fairly large car, and with among the largest units of any contemporaryPeugeot model, a correspondingly large production effort of the time. Available as a closed toplimousine or a doublephaeton, 251 Type 81s were built during 1906. The engine was a 2.2 Lstraight-4 which produced 15 hp at 1400 rpm.

1 These cars were marketed as "Lion-Peugeots", produced by what was till 1910 a separate Peugeot company, run by cousins ofArmand Peugeot, then in charge of the principal automobile business.

In 1910, Armand having no sons of his own, it was agreed that the two branches of the Peugeot business be reunited.
