Periorbital hyperpigmentation, also known ashereditary dark circles, is characterized by darker skin around theeyes caused by the presence of additionalmelanin. It is an extremely commonhereditary human characteristic and is frequently found on individuals withdark skin. Periorbital hyperpigmentation is most prevalent within the 16–25 age group.[1]
