Pericotoxodon is anextinctgenus oftoxodontidnotoungulate, from theMiocene period. Fossils ofPericotoxodon were found nearRío Inuya andMapuya inPeru, and inLa Venta,Colombia andBolivia, in deposits dated to the Middle Miocene.
The genus name,Pericotoxodon, is derived from "Perico", which was named afterJosé Espíritu Pericó, who discovered the holotype in the La Gaviota locality from theVillavieja Formation of Colombia.[1]
