Paul Richard Flatley (January 30, 1941 – March 15, 2025) was an American professionalfootball player who was awide receiver in theNational Football League (NFL) from 1963 to 1970.
Flatley playedcollege football for theNorthwestern Wildcats from 1960 to 1962. In 1962, Flatley was a vital part of Northwestern's offensive attack which helped earn theWildcats theNo. 1AP ranking for two weeks mid-season. Flatley led the team in receiving yardage and participated in the 1962East-West Shrine Game.
During his professional career, he played for theMinnesota Vikings (1963–1967) and theAtlanta Falcons (1968–1970). Drafted by the Vikings in the 4th round in the1963 NFL draft, Flatley was selected as theUPI NFL-NFC Rookie of the Year. As a Viking, Flatley played in the 1966Pro Bowl.
Flatley was a member of theIndiana Football Hall of Fame. He was a member of theMinnesota Golden Gopher football radio broadcast team, along withRay Christensen for many years. Flatley died from sepsis on March 15, 2025, at the age of 84.[1]
