ThePascagoula map turtle (Graptemys gibbonsi) is aspecies ofturtle in thefamilyEmydidae. The species is native to the southernUnited States.
The Pascagoula map turtle is restricted to thePascagoula River system in the state ofMississippi in the United States.[4] It formerly included a population in thePearl River, but in 2010, that population was described as a separate species, thePearl River map turtle,Graptemys pearlensis.[5] The Pascagoula map turtle shares its range with theyellow-blotched map turtle,G. flavimaculata.
Thespecific name,gibbonsi, is in honor of Americanherpetologist"Whit" Gibbons.[6]
