ThePamenar Mosque (Persian:مسجد پامنار (سبزوار),romanized: Masjid-i Pa-Minar;Arabic:مسجد بامنار (سبزوار)), sometimes known as thePa Minar Mosque – referring to itsminar – is amosque located inSabzevar, in the province ofRazavi Khorasan,Iran.
The mosque dates from 880CE, during theTahirid era, and is one of the oldest monuments in central Sabzevar. Adjacent to the mosque is a 15-metre-tall (49 ft) swinging minaret, erected in 1029 CE, during theSamanid era. The stunning brick minaret is adorned withKuficinscriptions and is attached to aniwan. Azure tiles bearing whiteQur'anic verses adorn the mosque that was extensively renovated and expanded during theSafavid era to include a nine-archedsanctuary with three semi-arches.[1][2][3] The mosque was added to theIran National Heritage List on 12 April 1967, administered by theCultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization of Iran.
