Oro (Oron) is aLower Cross River language ofNigeria.The phonemes of Oron comprise seven oral vowelsí, ε, e, a, o, ɔ, u, fiveplosive consonantsb, kp, d, t, k, threenasal consonantsm, ŋ, n, threefricative consonantsf, s, h, two semi-vowel consonantsw, y and onelateral consonantl. The lateral consonant is an unusual feature of Oro and it is not found in most neighbouring varieties.
The Oron language does not possess anyaffixes or verb forms to expresspassive actions; 'he is received' becomes 'they received him'. Finally, it may be noted that the relative order of the simple Oron sentence issubject-verb-object.[2]
