Omega Seiki Mobility, also known asOSM, is an Indianelectric vehicle company that manufacturesthree-wheelers, headquartered inNew Delhi. It is developing its own line of commercial EVs primarily deployed within e-commerce forlast-mile delivery.[3] Omega Seiki serves as a separate business auto vertical of the Anglian Omega Group.[4][5] The company's first vehicle -Rage+, was indigenously designed and developed in its manufacturing facility inFaridabad,Haryana.[6] Launched in February 2020 at theAuto Expo 2020,Rage+ claimed to be India's first smart electric cargo three-wheeler.[7] Recently, the company also unveiled arefrigerated vehicle -Rage+ Frost.[8] Anglian Omega Group is planning to invest US$300–600 million into OSM.[9][10] Omega Seiki Mobility, with their French partner Systemics, are planning to launch hydrogen-powered three-wheelers in India.[11]
Anglian Omega Group collaborated with ADM Technologies in 2018 and expanded into the electric vehicle mobility market under a separate business entity, Omega Seiki Mobility.[12] Omega Seiki Mobility serves as a part of the larger Anglian Omega Network.[13] The network consists of a number of family owned business that was founded by Satya Pal Narang in 1971.[14] Traditionally dealing in bright bar steel, the group after achieving an eminent position in the steel market[clarification needed], started investing in the infrastructure segment and developed several large-scale warehousing and cold storage facilities across the country.[15][16] Currently, Anglian Omega has investments in various business sectors including automobile components, supply chain management services, financial services, hospitality and sports, spread across multiple Asian markets as well as in Switzerland and Germany in Europe.[17]
OSM launched its first product -Rage+ at the Auto Expo 2020.[18]
OSM presently has manufacturing units in and aroundDelhi-NCR as well as inPune andChennai.[19] The company has set up an R&D as well as a manufacturing facility in Faridabad, whileManesar, Pune and Chennai locations serve manufacturing roles.[20][21][22]
OSM's plant located in Sector 58,IMT Faridabad is a facility with an annual capacity of 12,000 vehicles in phase 1 of the EV project.[23][10][24] The current Faridabad plant with an installed capacity of 1000 units monthly has been operational since June 2020.[22][23] OSM intends to develop the Faridabad centre as the main plant which can aid other satellite plants across the country, wherein completely knocked down (CKD) kits could be assembled.[22] Plans were devised to set up more facilities across the country with the expected investment being around ₹200 crores spread across multiple phases.[25]
The third manufacturing facility of OSM, located inChakan, Pune, has an initial annual production capacity of 6,000 units.[26] With plans to increase this capacity to 30,000 units by 2025. The facility spans over 50,000 square feet.[27] It is staffed by approximately 250 employees. This new plant represents a significant investment of approximately ₹40 crore. OSM has outlined plans to invest an additional ₹190 crore over the next three years.[28]
