O'Neil Longson is an American professionalpoker player fromLas Vegas,Nevada, who has won three bracelets at the World Series of Poker.
Longson first finishedin the money at theWorld Series of Poker (WSOP) in 1980, finishing 4th in the $1,000 No Limit Hold'em event.[1] In1990 in the $5,000 Pot limit Omaha event, he finished 2nd to former world championAmarillo Slim.[2]
He had another second-place finish in the1991 in the $1,500no limithold'em event, where he finished 2nd toBrent Carter.[3] He also cashed in the $10,000 no limit hold'emMain Event that year, finishing 12th.[4] Longson was again close to winning a WSOP bracelet in1992, finishing 2nd toHoyt Corkins in the $5,000pot limitOmaha event.[5]
Longson eventually won a WSOP bracelet in1994 World Series of Poker in the $1,500 pot limit Omaha event, defeating a final table including Surinder Sunar andT. J. Cloutier. He defeatedJ. C. Pearson during the heads-up play.[6]
He won a second bracelet in2003 in the $5,000 no limit deuce to sevendraw event, defeating a final table including runner-upAllen Cunningham,Bill Baxter,Chris Ferguson andHoward Lederer.[7]
His third and most recent bracelet came in the2005 $1,500 Seven-CardRazz event, defeating a final table including runner-upBruno Fitoussi,Archie Karas, andMickey Wernick.[8]
As of 2009, his total live tournament winnings exceed $2,100,000.[9] His 26 cashes at the WSOP account for $994,195 of those winnings.[10]
Longson plays fewer tournaments than he used to as he ishard of hearing and now chooses to concentrate on cash games instead. His overwhelmingly aggressive style was noted in "Pot-Limit & No-Limit Poker" byStewart Reuben andBob Ciaffone, and his signature colossal preflop raises and betting in the dark continue to astound and confuse opponents years later.(1).
