North Lakes is acensus-designated place (CDP) inMatanuska-Susitna Borough,Alaska, United States. It was first listed as a CDP prior to the2020 census, after the split of the former CDP ofLakes.[1] It is part of theAnchorage, AlaskaMetropolitan Statistical Area.
North Lakes is located northeast ofWasilla and west ofPalmer; the CDP name refers to a chain of lakes in the community. It is bordered to the south by theSouth Lakes CDP.
According to theUnited States Census Bureau, the North Lakes CDP has a total area of 17.2 square miles (44.6 km2), of which 15.5 square miles (40.1 km2) are land and 1.7 square miles (4.5 km2), or 10.12%, are water.[1]
As of the2020 census, the population was 9,450, the second most populated CDP in the borough and thefourth largest in the state.[2]
