Nicponia[nit͡sˈpɔɲa] (formerlyGerman:Nichtsfelde[1]) is avillage in the administrative district ofGmina Gniew, withinTczew County,Pomeranian Voivodeship, in northern Poland.[2] It lies approximately 2 kilometres (1 mi) south-west ofGniew, 32 km (20 mi) south ofTczew, and 62 km (39 mi) south of the regional capitalGdańsk. It is located within the ethnocultural region ofKociewie.
Founded in the eighteenth century, the first recorded mention of Nicponia appears in written sources around 1790, which refer to the village as Nitzponie.[3]
The village has been regarded as unusual in bucking the national trend for youthemigration from Poland since EU accession.[4]
A now defunct industrial narrow gauge railway once serviced the village.[3]National road 91 currently runs through Nicponia.
