Naveed Ashraf is anadmiral in thePakistan Navy who is serving as the 23rdchief of the Naval Staff (CNS) since October 2023.[1][2]

Education

The Admiral is an alumnus of thePakistan Naval War College, theNational Defence University and theNaval War College, US. He has also obtained hismilitary education from theRoyal College of Defence Studies, UK.[1][2][3]

Career

Ashraf was commissioned in thePakistan Navy with his first appointment in 1989 at the operations branch. His command assignments include 18th and 25th Destroyer Squadrons, commandantPakistan Naval Academy, in addition to serving as the Commanding Officer ofPNS ALAMGIR,PNS SHAHJAHAN,PNS TIPPU SULTAN, PNS MUJAHID and PNS LARKANA. At staff, he was appointed Fleet Operations Officer toCommander Pakistan Fleet,Chief of Staff forCombined Task Force 151 at theUnited States Naval Forces Central Command, Chief Instructor and Deputy President of theNational Defence University, and Captain Training at theFlag Officer Sea Training (FOST),Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Admin), Director General C4I,Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Training & Personnel),Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Operations), Chief of Staff, and theVice Chief of Naval Staff.[1][2][4][5][6]

In acknowledgment of his meritorious services, Admiral Naveed Ashraf has been honored with theNishan-e-Imtiaz (Military),Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military),Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Military),Tamgha-e-Imtiaz (Military) andTamgha-e-Basalat.[1][2][7][8][9]
