Amonoamine receptor is areceptor for themonoamine neurotransmitters and/ortrace amines,endogenoussmall-moleculesignaling molecules with amonoaminestructure. The monoamine receptors are almost allG protein-coupled receptors, with theserotonin5-HT₃ receptor being a notable exception as aligand-gated ion channel.^[1] Monoamine receptors are thebiological targets of manydrugs; such drugs may be referred to as "monoaminergic".

Monoamine receptors include the following classes:

• Adrenergic receptors – bound byepinephrine (adrenaline) andnorepinephrine (noradrenaline)
• Dopamine receptors – bound bydopamine
• Histamine receptors – bound byhistamine
• Melatonin receptors – bound bymelatonin
• Serotonin receptors – bound byserotonin (5-HT)
• Trace amine-associated receptors – bound bytrace amines,thyronamines,monoamine neurotransmitters (TAAR1 only), andtrimethylamine (TAAR5 only)
