Molly Lambert is an American journalist, podcaster and social activist. She was born inLos Angeles and grew up in theSan Fernando Valley.[1]

Career

From 2010 to 2012, Lambert wrote music reviews forPitchfork.[2] In 2014, she co-hosted theESPNGrantland productionGirls in Hoodies in which she discussed pop culture with Emily Yoshida and Tess Lynch.[3] Lambert also co-hosted theMTV Entertainment Group podcastNorth Mollywood with journalist Alex Pappademas in 2017.[4]

In 2016, she wrote an article forThe New York Times aboutglass bricks - a subject she has discussed extensively, including on the podcastWhy Do You Know That?.[5]

Lambert reunited with Yoshida and Lynch in 2018 to host theiHeartRadio call-in showNight Call, which ran until 2020. Since February 2020 she has also hostedDeckheads with Anna Hossnieh, a former podcast and nowTwitch stream centred on the reality showBelow Deck and otherBravo programming.[6][7] Lambert also wrote the foreword forI Used to Be Charming, a 2019 collection of the work ofEve Babitz. It was later published independently inThe Paris Review.[8]

In 2022, she wrote, produced and hostedHeidiWorld: The Heidi Fleiss Story, a limited series podcast about the life of Hollywood madamHeidi Fleiss.[9] The show featured an extensive voice cast playing various characters from Fleiss' life, includingRian Johnson,Karina Longworth,Paul F. Tompkins andKaren Tongson.[10]

At the end of 2023, Lambert announced on herInstagram that she is currently working onJennaWorld, a podcast about "the history of pornography and the San Fernando Valley and the last quarter century in media" centered on the life ofJenna Jameson. It was originally scheduled for a 2024 release, but Lambert's Instagram page now indicates 2025.

In 2025, Lambert publishedDouble Acts in Pop, a book about duos in pop music. The book is a collaboration withCommercial Type and features their entire library of fonts.[11]

Activism

Lambert is a member of the Los Angeles branch of theDemocratic Socialists of America.[12] She is also one of the founders ofNOlympics LA, a movement which opposes theOlympic Games and seeks to cancel the2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.[13][14] She views the Olympics as "a scheme routinely carried out by a consortium of grotesquely wealthy oligarchs and war criminals (likeHenry Kissinger), who use sports as a pretext to extract capital from poor communities around the world."[15]

Personal life

Lambert is the sister of music industry executive and manager forFreddie Gibbs, Ben "Lambo" Lambert,[16][17] the daughter and niece respectively ofGrateful Dead associates Glenn and Gary Lambert[18][19] and the granddaughter ofGerman Jewishtrack and field athleteGretel Bergmann.[20]
