Mohammad Mahdi Mirbagheri (Persian:محمّدمهدی میرباقری; born in 1961 inQom) is anIranianpolitician,Shiacleric andMuslimphilosopher andtheorist who serves as head of Qom Academy of Islamic Sciences and a member of theAssembly of Experts.[1] and representative of Semnan Province in theAssembly of Experts. He is also considered as one of the teachers of foreign jurisprudence.[2]

He is one of the theorists about the relationship between science and religion. He believes in the orientation of sciences in terms of epistemology, based on which sciences can be divided into religious and non-religious. Bagheri was elected as a representativeAlborz province in the Assembly of Leadership Experts in theelections of March 2016.[3] He was elected as a representative of the Assembly of Leadership Experts from Semnan province in theelections of March 2024.[4] His name was raised as a potential candidateto be elected as the nextSupreme Leader of Iran.[5] Previously his name was discussed in regards to the position of TehranFriday Prayer leader.[6]
