Mitchell Krueger (born January 12, 1994) is an Americantennis player.He has a career-high singles ranking by theATP of world No. 135, achieved on July 18, 2022 and a doubles ranking of No. 173, achieved on April 27, 2015.
Krueger received a wildcard into the2012 US Open mixed doubles event, where he partnered fellow AmericanSamantha Crawford, but lost in the first round.
He made his ATP Tour main-draw debut and recorded his first ATP win when he qualified and defeatedBenoît Paire for a first of two wins of his career against this same player at the2017 Western & Southern Open and the2018 BNP Paribas Open.[1]He made his Grand Slam debut when he qualified into the main draw of the2018 US Open.[2]
At the2019 Australian Open, Krueger qualified for the first time at this Major but lost to world No. 1,Novak Djokovic, in the first round.[3]
His first Grand Slam win was at the2020 US Open where he defeatedPedro Sousa in the first round as a wildcard.[1]
He received a wildcard for the inaugural edition of the2022 Dallas Open.The following week at the2022 Delray Beach Open, he reached the second round as a qualifier, defeatingJordan Thompson for his fourth ATP Tour-level win before losing to third seedGrigor Dimitrov.[1][4]
He received also a wildcard for the2024 Dallas Open where he lost toMax Purcell.[5] Ranked No. 192, he qualified for the main draw of theCiti DC Open in Washington and recorded his first ATP win in close to a year, since August 2023.[6] Ranked No. 170, he qualified for the2024 US Open making his third main draw appearance at this Grand Slam and defeated fellow qualifierHugo Grenier, for his second win at this tournament and second Major win in his career.[7]
Ranked No. 140, he entered the main draw2024 Hangzhou Open, as a lucky loser, into the second round, after the late withdrawal of third seedTomás Martín Etcheverry, getting a first round bye.[8]
Mitchell enters his second season withWorld TeamTennis in 2020, after making his debut with thePhiladelphia Freedoms in 2019. It was announced he joined theSpringfield Lasers during the 2020 WTT season that began on July 12.[9]
