Miracatu is a municipality in the state ofSão Paulo inBrazil. The population is 19,643 (2020 est.) in an area of 1001 km².[2] The elevation is 27 m.
The municipality contains part of the 488,865 hectares (1,208,010 acres)Serra do Mar Environmental Protection Area, created in 1984.[3]It contains a small part of the 84,425 hectares (208,620 acres)Juréia-Itatins Ecological Station, a strictly protected area of well-preservedAtlantic Forest created in 1986.[4]
The municipality was created by state law in 1938.[5]
In telecommunications, the city was served byCompanhia de Telecomunicações do Estado de São Paulo until 1975, when it began to be served byTelecomunicações de São Paulo.[6] In July 1998, this company was acquired by Telefónica, which adopted theVivo brand in 2012.[7]
The company is currently an operator of cell phones, fixed lines, internet (fiber optics/4G) and television (satellite and cable).[7]
