James Michael Hold Jr. (born March 16, 1963) is an American former professionalfootball player who was aquarterback in theNational Football League (NFL) andArena Football League (AFL). He played for theChicago Bruisers,Tampa Bay Buccaneers,Maryland Commandos,Denver Dynamite,Sacramento Attack,Orlando Predators,Connecticut Coyotes,Arizona Rattlers andHouston ThunderBears. He later was the head coach of theAugusta Stallions,[1]Carolina Cobras,Las Vegas Gladiators andMahoning Valley Thunder.[2][3] He playedcollege football atMesa Community College prior to transferring to theSouth Carolina Gamecocks football.[4]
Hold made a cameo appearance in the 1998 sports comedy filmThe Waterboy, where he plays a quarterback for the Central Kentucky Football team.[5]
Hold is currently the Executive Athletic Director ofNewberry College.[6]
