Mérida Unión Deportiva was aSpanish football club based inMérida, in the autonomous community ofExtremadura. Founded in 1990, they last played inTercera División – Group 14 when dissolved in 2013, and hosted games at theEstadio Romano.
Mérida Unión Deportiva was the predecessor ofCP Mérida, which had been founded in 1912 asSportiva Emeritense, and eventually came to play inLa Liga, disappearing in 2000 due to asphyxiating debts.
Founded in1990 asMérida Promesas after the merge ofSanta Eulalia andLos Milagros, the club was affiliated toCP Mérida until 2000, changed its name to Unión Deportiva, going on to take Club Polideportivo's place as the main team inthe city. Having played mainly in thefourth division as a backup team, it did manage seven presences inthe third independently, but returned toTercera in 2009,[1] where it played until being dissolved and replaced by new creation teamMérida AD.
