Marline Valley Woods is a 55.1-hectare (136-acre) biologicalSite of Special Scientific Interest on the western outskirts ofHastings inEast Sussex.^[1]^[2] An area of 40.3 hectares (100 acres) is aLocal Nature Reserve^[3]^[4] owned byHastings Borough Council and managed by theSussex Wildlife Trust.^[5]

This site has ancient woodland and species rich unimproved grassland. The wood has standards ofpedunculate oak and coppice ofhornbeam,hazel andsweet chestnut. A stream runs along a steep sided valley which has 61 species of mosses and liverworts, including some uncommon species.^[6]

There is access from Queensway.
