Mahmoud Jafarian (Persian:محمود جعفریان; October 1928 – 13 March 1979) was an Iranian politician under the last Shah of Iran,Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. He served simultaneously as deputy director forNational Iranian Radio and Television (NIRT), managing director ofPars News Agency, and Vice President of theRastakhiz Party.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

Following theIranian Revolution in 1979, Jafarian was ordered executed bySadegh Khalkhali who was selected byAyatollah Khomeini as Chief Justice of the newly formedIslamic Revolutionary Court. No lawyer or jury was made available and the court's death sentence was carried out less than two hours after the verdict.[1] Mahmoud Jafarian was executed by firing squad atEvin Prison on 13 March 1979.[7][8][9][10] He is buried atBehesht-e Zahra cemetery.

Jafarian had been a member ofTudeh Party, but later recanted and worked withSAVAK.[11]
