Brian Josephson (born 4 January 1940) is best known for his pioneering work onsuperconductivity andquantum tunnelling. He was born inCardiff and won theNobel Prize in Physics in 1974 for the prediction of theJosephson effect.[1]
ThephilosopherBertrand Russell (18 May 1872 – 2 February 1970) won theNobel Prize in Literature in 1950 'in recognition of his varied and significant writings in which he championshumanitarian ideals andfreedom of thought’.[2] Russell was born atCleddon Hall inTrellech,Monmouthshire, and died at his home at Plas Penrhyn,Penrhyndeudraeth,Merionethshire.[3]
