Qian Lin (born March 11, 1991), better known inJapan asLinlin (リンリン), is a Chinese singer. She is a formerMorning Musume member and leader of theHello! Project sub-group Shin Minimoni.[1] She was announced to be joining as the eighth generation of Morning Musume on March 15, 2007.[2] Along withLi Chun, she is one of the only two members in the history of Morning Musume that are of non-Japanese origin.
Linlin was born inHangzhou,Zhejiang,China. In the second grade ofelementary school (1999), she was spotted by a localtelevision station. Since then, she has been active in the entertainment industry, appearing in manytelevisiondramas and other shows as a host inChina.[2][3]
Through the recommendation of afriend ofTsunku, the producer ofHello! Project (which Morning Musume is under), Linlin joinedHello! Project as a part ofHello! Pro Egg, a training center for practicingsinging anddancing.[3][4]
On March 15, 2007, she (along withJunjun) were officially announced to be joining the eighth generation of all girlJ-pop group Morning Musume, as a "foreign student".[2][5] After seeing her perform atconcerts,Tsunku was impressed and believed that she and Junjun would be key for Morning Musume's planned expansion intoAsia in 2007.[4][6][7]
Three days later, on March 18, 2007, she made herJapanesetelevision debut onHello! Morning. Within the same week, she moved toTokyo,Japan.[6]
After two years performing with Morning Musume,Tsunku announced on hisblog that Linlin would become theleader of the newMinimoni.[1]
In the Morning Musume 2010 ~Rival Survival~ fallconcert tour, Linlin graduated from Morning Musume andHello Project along withJunjun andEri Kamei. Due to hergraduating from Morning Musume andHello Project, she also left the groupMinimoni.
On August 12, 2011,Takamasa Sakurai Tweeted that Linlin and the formerHello! Pro Egg memberAkari Saho, would be forming a special unit. They will be performing a mini live at a Harajuku fashion show inHarbin, China.[8][9][10][11]
On June 25, 2016, Qian revealed onTwitter that she had been married in November 2014 after three months of dating and gave birth to a child in September 2015.[12][13]
