Leo Vincent Woodall (born 14 September 1996) is a British actor. He gained recognition with his roles in thesecond season of theHBO satirical anthology seriesThe White Lotus (2022) and in theNetflix romantic drama miniseriesOne Day (2024). Woodall has since starred in theApple TV+ thriller seriesPrime Target and the romantic comedyBridget Jones: Mad About the Boy (both 2025).
Woodall was born in Shepherd's Bush, West London.[1] He comes from a family of actors, including his father Andrew, stepfather, and grandmother; his parents met at drama school. He has said he is a descendant ofMaxine Elliott.[2]
Woodall attendedShene School. He wanted to go into sports, but decided to pursue acting after seeing the seriesPeaky Blinders when he was 19. He graduated with aBachelor of Arts in acting fromArts Educational School (ArtsEd) in 2019.[3][4]
Woodall made his television debut with a guest appearance in a 2019 episode of theBBC One medical soap operaHolby City. He also appeared in the short filmMan Down. That summer he was cast in the upcoming feature filmNomad out of 28,000 submissions.[5] Filming took place in more than 20 countries.[6]
In the meantime Woodall made his feature film debut inCherry, directed by theRusso brothers.[7] He played Adrian Ivashkov in thePeacock seriesVampire Academy. He joined the main cast of theHBOanthology seriesThe White Lotus for itssecond season inSicily as Jack, a young man fromEssex.[8][9] To prepare for the role and adopt the character'saccent, he watched videos of television personalityJoey Essex.[10] He was named a 2023Screen International Star of Tomorrow.[11] He had a recurring role in theAmazon Prime seriesCitadel in 2023.[12]
Woodall starred in his first lead role as Dexter Mayhew, oppositeAmbika Mod, inOne Day, the 2024Netflix adaptation ofnovel of the same name byDavid Nicholls.[13] The series tells the story of two young people who become best friends following a platonic one-night stand. Along with positive reception for the series, Woodall received critical acclaim for his performance.[14] Writing forIndieWire, Proma Khosla described him as "especially devastating", and said he was "a tornado of charisma with a permanent yet never smug smirk and a romcom smolder that should send his forbears cowering at the notion".[15] The role was abreakthrough in Woodall’s career.[16]
In 2025, Woodall played the lead role of a mathematician in theApple TV+ thriller seriesPrime Target and starred inBridget Jones: Mad About the Boy withRenée Zellweger, playing Roxster, Jones' younger and brazen new love interest.[17]
