Leiocephalus psammodromus,commonly known as theTurks & Caicos curlytail and theBastion Cay curlytail lizard, is aspecies oflizard in thefamily Leiocephalidae (curly-tailed lizards).[2] The species is native to theTurks and Caicos Islands in theCaribbean Sea.[3]
The speciesL. psammodromus was assessed asvulnerable by theIUCN in 2015 due to a sharply declining population threatened by habitat loss and invasive species.[1] 2008 surveys onSouth Caicos,Salt Cay,Cotton Cay, orGrand Turk, did not report any individual of this species, as a result it is considered potentially extinct on these islands.[4]
