Le Castellet (French pronunciation:[ləkastəlɛ];Occitan:Lo Castelet) is acommune in theVardepartment of theProvence-Alpes-Côte d'Azurregion in SoutheasternFrance. It consists of a small feudal village perched on a cliff edge and its surroundings.[3] It is situated north-west ofToulon next toLa Cadière-d'Azur andLe Beausset. It is surrounded byvineyards and is part of theCôtes de ProvenceAppellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) ofBandol. It is a member ofLes Plus Beaux Villages de France (The Most Beautiful Villages of France) Association. TheCircuit Paul Ricard is also located in the commune.
Le Castellet has ahot-summer Mediterranean climate (Köppen climate classificationCsa). The average annual temperature in Le Castellet is 13.7 °C (56.7 °F). The average annual rainfall is 689.7 mm (27.15 in) with November as the wettest month. The temperatures are highest on average in July, at around 22.6 °C (72.7 °F), and lowest in January, at around 6.4 °C (43.5 °F). The highest temperature ever recorded in Le Castellet was 37.1 °C (98.8 °F) on 5 August 2017; the coldest temperature ever recorded was −11.0 °C (12.2 °F) on 7 March 1971.
