Laura Jane Haddock (born 21 August 1985)[1] is a British actress. She is known for portraying Zoë Walker inWhite Lines, Max Meladze inThe Recruit,Lucrezia inDa Vinci's Demons, Meredith Quill inGuardians of the Galaxy and its sequelGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and Viviane Wembly inTransformers: The Last Knight.
Haddock was born inEnfield,London, to areflexologist mother and afinancier father.[2] She was raised inHarpenden,Hertfordshire, where she attendedSt George's School.[3] She left school at the age of 17 and moved to London to study drama. She trained atArts Educational School inChiswick.[4]
Haddock made her television debut in thetelevision pilotPlus One, part of theComedy Showcase 2008.[5] In 2009, Haddock played the lead role of Natasha in theITV1comedy dramaMonday Monday, and appeared as Samantha in series two and three ofHow Not to Live Your Life.[6]
In 2011, she appeared in theCinemax/Sky TV dramaStrike Back: Project Dawn for two episodes, as the kidnapped daughter of an illegal arms dealer. She starred asLucrezia Donati,[7] the mistress ofLorenzo de' Medici and lover ofLeonardo da Vinci in the 2013 seriesDa Vinci's Demons.[8]
Haddock's theatre credits includeFamous Last, which formed part of the 2009Sky Arts Theatre Live! project,[9] andRutherford & Son atNorthern Stage.[10] In 2014, she portrayed Meredith Quill inGuardians of the Galaxy, a role she reprised in its 2017 sequelGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. She appears in the ITV series,The Level, and played Vivian Wembley in the 2017 filmTransformers: The Last Knight.[11]
In 2021, Haddock starred in a Christmas marketing campaign for British furniture and home accessories retailerOKA.[12] In 2022, she starred as Maxine Meladze in theNetflix spy-adventure television seriesThe Recruit.
Haddock married English actorSam Claflin in July 2013 after dating for two years.[13] They have a son and a daughter.[14] On 20 August 2019, Haddock and Claflin announced their legal separation.[15][16]
