Langeais (French pronunciation:[lɑ̃ʒɛ]ⓘ) is acommune in theIndre-et-Loiredepartment in centralFrance. On 1 January 2017, the former commune ofLes Essards was merged into Langeais.[3]

Langeais has a church of the 11th, 12th and 15th centuries, but is chiefly interesting for itslarge and historic château built soon after the middle of the 15th century byJean Bourré, minister ofLouis XI. Here the marriage ofCharles VIII andAnne of Brittany took place in 1491. In the park, are the ruins of a keep of late 10th century architecture, built byFulk Nerra (Black Hawk in old French), count ofAnjou.[6]
