L.A. Rats were an Americanheavy metalsupergroup formed in 2021.[1][2]
The band was formed in early 2021 at the invitation of record company executive Scott Borchetta, who had been placed in charge of the soundtrack for the then-upcoming action thrillerNetflix filmThe Ice Road.[3] The supergroup includesfrontmanRob Zombie, currentMötley Crüe and former Rob Zombie guitaristJohn 5, Mötley Crüe bassistNikki Sixx, andTed Nugent/Black Sabbath drummerTommy Clufetos.[4] The musicians had worked together before in various capacities. Clufetos has played drums on several of Zombie's and John 5's albums, while John 5 had collaborated with Sixx on the soundtrack to the filmThe Dirt.[4]
Their first song "I've Been Everywhere", a heavy metal cover of a 1959country song written byGeoff Mack, which has also been recorded byHank Snow,Johnny Cash, andAsleep at the Wheel,[4] was used inThe Ice Road and appeared on the accompanying soundtrack album.[5][6] The song reached theBillboardMainstream Rock chart in July 2021,[7] and an animated music video for the song was also released.[8]
As of late 2021 it is unclear if the supergroup will record any additional music.[9][10]
