Léa Drucker (born 23 January 1972) is a French actress. She played Catherine Durand in the French-British television seriesWar of the Worlds. She won theCésar Award for Best Actress in 2019 for her role in the filmCustody.

Early life

Born inCaen,Normandy, Drucker is the niece of television presenterMichel Drucker, and of ex-president ofM6Jean Drucker. Her father Jacques is a medical doctor, and her mother, Martine, an English teacher. She is the cousin of the journalistMarie Drucker. Her paternal grandfather wasJewish.

Drucker studied acting at the École de la rue Blanche, the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts et Techniques du Théâtre (ENSATT) in Paris.[1]

Career

Drucker's early career encompassed both classical theatre pieces likeLe Misanthrope, and contemporary plays such asBlanc by Emmanuelle Marie.[2]

She has been twice nominated for theMolière Award for Best Female Revelation, in 2001 for her role inDanny et la grande bleue and in 2004 for84 Charing Cross Road.[3] In 2019, she won theCésar Award for Best Actress forCustody.[4]

In 2019, she began her first work in English-language television, starring as Catherine Durand in three seasons (24 episodes) of theStudioCanal French-British television seriesWar of the Worlds (2019–2022), alongsideGabriel Byrne andDaisy Edgar-Jones.[5]

Personal life

Drucker is in a relationship with director and screenwriterJulien Rambaldi. They have one daughter, born in 2014.[3][6][7]
