Kristine Hermosa Orille-Sotto (Tagalog:[kɾɪsˈtinheɾˈmɔsaˈsɔtɔ]; born September 9, 1983) is aFilipino actress.

Hermosa made her screen debut in the youth-oriented variety showAng TV (1995). Her breakthrough came in the soap operaPangako Sa 'Yo (2000), which became one of thehighest-rated television series in Philippine history.[1] She went on to star in severalteleseryes, includingSana'y Wala Nang Wakas (2003),'Til Death Do Us Part (2005),Gulong ng Palad (2006),Prinsesa ng Banyera (2007), andDahil May Isang Ikaw (2009). Her performance inDahil May Isang Ikaw earned her a nomination at theInternational Emmy Awards and made her a finalist at the2011 New York Festivals TV & Film Awards.[2]

She was one half of the popularABS-CBNlove team "EchoTin" alongsideJericho Rosales. Hermosa has also been recognized as one of the network's successful actresses, known for her consistent box office appeal.[3] One of her most notable works is the 2002 filmForevermore, which has been described as a significant romantic drama inPhilippine cinema.[3] In 2003,Ngayong Nandito Ka was released, earning ₱115 million at the box office. The following year, she starred alongsideAga Muhlach inAll My Life, which grossed ₱175 million.[4] That same year, she appeared withVic Sotto (who would later become her father-in-law) inEnteng Kabisote: OK Ka Fairy Ko... The Legend (2004), the first installment of the highly successfulEnteng Kabisote film series.

Hermosa reprised her role as Faye in four subsequent installments of theEnteng Kabisote film series, concluding in 2007. The second installment,Enteng Kabisote 2: Okay Ka Fairy Ko... The Legend Continues! (2005), was a commercial success, earning ₱158 million domestically and earning her the title of "Box-Office Queen" at the2005 GMMSF Box Office Entertainment Awards.[5] In 2010, she took an indefinite hiatus from acting to focus on her family withOyo Sotto. She returned to television in 2016 with the sitcomHay, Bahay! (2016) and rejoined ABS-CBN in 2018, portraying an antagonist inBagani.[6]

Personal life

Hermosa was in an intimate relationship with her on-screen partner,Jericho Rosales, from 2000 to 2004.[7]

On September 21, 2004, she married actorDiether Ocampo. Their marriage ended shortly after and was officially nullified on January 30, 2009.[8]

Hermosa married actor and hostOyo Boy Sotto on January 12, 2011 at Club Balay Isabel inTalisay, Batangas, with fellow actorsCharo Santos-Concio andJohnny Manahan as theirspecial sponsors.[9] Hermosa and Sotto have five children.[10][11][12][13] In February 2024, Hermosa announced onInstagram that she and Sotto were expecting their sixth child.[14][15]

Acting career

Hermosa was discovered at age 12 when her older sister Kathleen auditioned for a show inABS-CBN. She was cast in the 1998 weekly drama series,Sa Sandaling Kailangan Mo Ako. In 2000, she was cast in theprimetimesoap opera,Pangako Sa ’Yo, alongsideJericho Rosales.[16] She starred in the filmForevermore, released in 2002.[17] In 2003–2004, she starred inSana'y Wala Nang Wakas.

She also played the lead role in the short-lived drama'Til Death Do Us Part in 2005. Hermosa appeared inGulong ng Palad andPrinsesa ng Banyera in 2006 and 2007 respectively and inDahil May Isang Ikaw in 2009.

Her last project on ABS-CBN was the action-fantasy seriesNoah where she played adiwata, the counterpart of a fairy inPhilippine mythology.[18]

In 2016, she starred in GMA's weekly sitcomHay, Bahay! with her husbandOyo Boy Sotto,Vic Sotto andAi-Ai delas Alas, her first major role as a Kapuso artist.[19]

In 2018, she returned to teleseryes through a very special role in the adventure-fantasy dramaBagani, her comeback project on ABS-CBN.[20]
