Kosmos 2084 (Russian:Космос 2084 meaningCosmos 2084) is a RussianUS-K missileearly warningsatellite which was launched in 1990 as part of theRussian Space Forces'Oko programme. The satellite was designed to identify missile launches usingoptical telescopes andinfrared sensors.[2]

Kosmos 2084 was launched fromSite 43/3 atPlesetsk Cosmodrome in Russia.[5] AMolniya-M carrier rocket with a2BL upper stage was used to perform the launch, which took place at 20:45 UTC on 21 June 1990.[3] The launch failed to place the satellite into amolniya orbit as the Blok 2BL failed to ignite leaving the satellite inlow Earth orbit.

It subsequently received itsKosmos designation, and theinternational designator 1990-055A.[3] TheUnited States Space Command assigned it theSatellite Catalog Number 20663.[3]
