Koniče is avillage in themunicipality ofTutin, Serbia. According to the 2002 census, the village has a population of 322 people.[1]
The village (Albanian:Koniça) was founded in the early 18th century by brotherhoods of theShala fis. The Ottomans forced the movement of Catholic Albanians from Shala andKelmendi to thePešter plateau as means to control their activity. The people of the village today still themselvesmalësors (malisori - mountaineers in Albanian).[2]
Most people today speak the local Serbo-Croatian dialect with Albanian influences. Most significant toponyms in the village are of Albanian origin.:[2]
