TheKavi Guru Express[2] series of trains were introduced byIndian Railways in 2011 for the 1st time together with theRajya Rani Express. They were introduced by the then Railway Minister of India Ms.Mamata Banerjee in honour ofRabindranath Tagore. There were 4 trains proposed in the budget to operate as part of the series[3]

Service

However out of the four, only the 12949/12950Porbandar–Santragachi Kavi Guru Express is classed as aSuperfast Express.
