Kam Erika Heskin (born May 8, 1973)[1] is an American actress. She began her career playingCaitlin Deschanel on theNBC daytime soap operaSunset Beach (1998–1999), before appearing in filmsPlanet of the Apes (2001) andCatch Me If You Can (2002). Heskin went on in 2003 to playElizabeth Bennet in an independent filmPride & Prejudice: A Latter-Day Comedy, Robin inCharmed (2004), and Paige Morgan inThe Prince and Me film franchise (2006–2010).
Heskin was born inGrand Forks, North Dakota.[2] She attendedGrand Junction High School[citation needed] before she went on to study atConcordia College inMinnesota, graduating with a degree in Communications and Political Science.[2] The day after graduation, she moved toChicago and modeled for the next couple of months before moving toNew York City.
Heskin' first role came in early 1998, when directorJohn Woo selected her as the lead in his pilotBlackjack starringDolph Lundgren andKate Vernon. Later that year, she replacedVanessa Dorman asCaitlin Deschanel on theNBC daytime soap operaSunset Beach. Heskin portrayed the role until the end of the show, December 31, 1999. She later guest-starred onThe WB shows include7th Heaven,Angel, andCharmed. Heskin later returned to daytime television, briefly replacingMcKenzie Westmore asSheridan Crane onPassions in 2006 and 2008, while actress was on a leave of absence on two occasions.[2]
In 2000, Heskin played the female lead role in the thriller filmHeld for Ransom. The movie was released direct-to-video, never gaining a theatrical release in the United States.[3] She later had small parts inTomcats,Planet of the Apes andCatch Me If You Can, before a leading role in the independent comedy filmPride & Prejudice: A Latter-Day Comedy (2003).[4][5][6] In 2005, she had role in the box office bomb comedyDirty Love starringJenny McCarthy. The following year, she was cast as Paige Morgan (replacingJulia Stiles) in the romantic comedy filmThe Prince & Me 2: The Royal Wedding, a sequel to the 2004 filmThe Prince and Me.[7][8] She later has starred inThe Prince and Me 3: A Royal Honeymoon (2008), andThe Prince and Me 4: The Elephant Adventure (2010).
