KZLZ (105.3FM) is acommercialradio stationlicensed toCasas Adobes, Arizona, and serving theTucson metropolitan area. It airs aRegional Mexicanradio format and is owned byBustos Media. It is known asLa Poderosa 105.3 (The Power 105.3). Theradio studios and offices are on South Richey Avenue.

KZLZ is aClass C2 FM station. It has aneffective radiated power (ERP) of 580watts. Itstransmitter is on West Hidden Canyon Drive inTucson Estates.[2] KZLZ broadcasts usingHD Radio technology. Its HD2digital subchannel carries aReggaeton and SpanishRhythmic Contemporary format known as "Urbana 92.5." The subchannel feeds 150-wattFM translatorK223CI at 92.5 MHz in Tucson.[3]

History

The stationsigned on the air on August 31, 1991; 33 years ago (1991-08-31).[4] Its originalcity of license wasKearny and itscall sign was KCDX.

In the early 1990s, KCDX was known as "X 105.3", and was analbum rock station. Programming was delivered via satellite. In 1993, KCDX was sold to Entravision, with a change in the call letters to KZLZ. Entravision flipped the format to Spanish languageRegional Mexican.

On September 5, 2006, Entravision sold KZLZ to Todd Robinson for $4,750,000. On December 1, 2006, theFederal Communications Commission approved the voluntary transfer of the license to KZLZ, LLC. Effective June 1, 2022, KZLZ, LLC sold the station toBustos Media for $1.4 million.
