KARM (89.7FM "Promise FM"), is anon-commercial, listener-supportedradio station broadcasting aContemporary Inspirationalformat. It islicensed toVisalia, California, and serves theCentral California communities of Visalia,Tulare andHanford. The station is currently owned by Harvest Broadcasting Company, Inc.[2] The studios are on South Woodland Drive in Visalia. The station holds periodicfundraisers on the air and on its website.

KARM is aClass B1 FM station. It has aneffective radiated power (ERP) of 1,000watts.

History

The stationsigned on the air in 1980; 45 years ago (1980).[3] It has always had a Christian radio format.

Until 2016, KARM's programming wassimulcast inModesto and theSan Joaquin Valley via its formersister station,KADV.

The KARMcall sign was once used for a station broadcasting on1430 AM as Fresno'sABC RadioNetwork affiliate in the 1950s and 1960s. At that time it was the second-oldest AM station in the Fresno market, afterKMJ 580 AM. The original KARM got its start on 1310 kHz with 100 watts in 1938.[4][5] It is nowsports radioKFIG.
