Jwira–Pepesa, also known asGwira andPepesa–Jwira, is aNiger-Congo language of theWestern Region ofGhana, consisting of themutually intelligibledialects Jwira and Pepesa, with approximately 18,000 speakers total.[2] It is aKwa language of theCentral Tano branch, and shares 60%intelligibility withNzema and partial intelligibility withAhanta andAnyin.[3] Jwira is spoken in 18 villages fromBamiankaw toHumjibere along theAnkobra River, while Pepesa is spoken onWasa land betweenAgona Junction andTarkwa. The two dialects are separated by a mountain range.[2]
