TheJune solstice is thesolstice on Earth that occurs annually between 20 and 22 June according to theGregorian calendar. In theNorthern Hemisphere, the June solstice is thesummer solstice (the day with the longest period of daylight), while in theSouthern Hemisphere it is thewinter solstice (the day with the shortest period of daylight). It is also known as thenorthern solstice orsummer solstice. During June solstice, the Sun is directly over the Tropic of Cancer, located in the northern hemisphere.

The June solstice solar year is thesolar year based on the June solstice. It is thus the length of time between adjacent June solstices.
